A busy month for The Mix, with unexpected events… We were issued with an eviction notice from The Point. This has been something that has hung over us for sometime. The site was bought by developers and due for demolition for some time now. We fought to stay there for 2 weeks, whilst we found another venue.
Fortunately, we have now found somewhere permanent, for a least 3 years! We are moving to Unity Park Station on Monday 1st July (It was the Old Bus Station many years ago). It is opposite the railway station and the new bus station.
Numbers during July were in the mid 70’s. Citizens Advice were kept very busy this month and we were also grateful for the presence of the Samaritans
Pool Table was as usual well used. Art group too although, we are missing Stephen’s support there.
We had a wonder surprise, receiving an unexpected, generous donation from Jonathan who comes to support us from time to time. He has been so impressed with what we do here at The Mix and wanted to show that by giving us £500. A huge thank you to Jonathan. Funding like this is vital for our day to day costs which are so difficult to get covered with the grants available to community organisations like ours.
If you would like to join the next Open Committee Meeting, this is scheduled on Monday 9th September at 11.30 at Unity Park Station
