This month The Mix welcomed over 65 people, including a few new faces. This decrease from the high attendance in July is likely because of summer holidays.
The August Bank Holiday meant that our final session of the month was held on Wednesday 30th; here an overheated hoover led to a good practise of the fire evacuation procedure. Thank you to all that attended despite the change of day!
The Mix aims to provide a relaxed social service where advice is always available, and it is lovely to see how acquaintances blossom with every week. This month these were possibly aided by one attendees ‘Community Knitting Project'. The sessions buzzed with energy in no small part thanks to Jeremy’s friendly introduction at the door!
The art group continues going from strength to strength, with many people enjoying making use of Janet’s vast array of materials for colouring, drawing and collage making. All attendees are warmly welcomed, with the group acting as a relaxed, tranquil space within the sessions.
Paulina’s infectious enthusiasm has again led to an increase in numbers attending the drama group! Each session providing an informal, open space to enact poems and scenes, such as The Witches from Macbeth. Attendees were also able to express individual experiences through activities such as door-knocking and mirroring role play; all guided by Paulina’s acting insight.
Next month there is a Healthwatch Event in Middleton Hall on September 12th and The Mix are attending help promote our service. There is also a committee meeting on September 11th at 11:30am – all are welcome to attend, with any new ideas or your views of the service greatly appreciated.
