June & July 2017

Apologies to anyone who reads the blog, we we're not able to produce one for June so this is combined for June & July.

If anyone would like to contribute to this please contact Melanie, Julie (or any committee member at The Mix) or us the contact form on this website!

Numbers were in the upper 50’s and suspect this was possibly a result of the disruption to the bus routes, there was a lot of work going on outside The Point affecting the bus stops.

Art & Drama continue to be well supported and enjoyed.

The CAB continue to provide an excellent service, nobody is ever turned away, and offered follow up appointments if necessary.

The Mix has welcomed Polly, a student studying Psychology who is attending every week to gain experience.

At the beginning of the month The Mix was visited by The Sherriff of Buckingham, Peter Kara, after which we received a letter of thanks from him stating how impressed he is with the service and how much he enjoyed the visit.

July saw an increase in numbers - in two of the sessions we had over 80 people attend!

This generated more work for CAB, always available to offer appointments and give invaluable advice.

We saw an increase in people attending the Drama Group. Paulina's infectious enthusiasm and motivation makes the session very enjoyable for everyone.

The pool table and table tennis equipment is put to good use and becoming more popular.

Committee members applied for and succeeded in getting a grant from The Community Foundation, a big thanks to everybody involved in that.  We are planning to purchase some equipment for the Art Group and a new cupboard to store it in. We have also earmarked funds for Wi-Fi access.

The Mix is as much about social interactions as it is access to services so we're delighted to see more and more acquaintances and friendships forming every week. One service service user said there's a ‘lovely atmosphere great to see new faces’.

The Mix welcomes any staff providing services for people with mental health problems in Milton Keynes and it has been fantastic to welcome staff from the Campbell Centre, Cherrywood and the Community services, some of whom attend regularly.

The Mix MK now has a Facebook page. A massive thanks to Paul for setting this up, please like and share.

Finally, please note The Mix will not be open for Bank Holiday 28th August, we will however, be opening on Wednesday 30th August 1.30-3.30.
