All the sessions this month have been well attended with numbers nudging into the 80's one week. Most weeks there are new faces and this month some more peoplehave started to attend regularly and have become a welcome part of the scene.
New people keep the sessions fresh and help maintain a welcoming atmosphere (as opposed to being clique ridden). Although large numbers of people attend it rarely feels too busy, partly because the venue is large but also because people come and go so we don't have everyone in the venue at any one time!
We lost three valuable members of the crew this month and they all had their last week together and were thanked with speeches and small gifts.
A big THANK-YOU to Paul who was our secretary, Polly who spent the summer with us and John who has been part of The Mix for over a year. They have all gone to University, John and Paul starting courses and Polly returning. Good luck to them all.
There has been some excitement in the Drama workshop this month as the group has decided to put on a production at the Christmas party planned for 18th December- should be a laugh!
The art session has continued to be well used and Janet who facilities has spearheaded a canvas for display at the World Mental Health Day (image below). A big thank you to Janet and all who got involved.
The CAB volunteers, Richard and Wendy, are now very much a part of our sessions, attending every week to offer much needed advice and support. The increased access to their service provided at the Mix is an incredible asset and is greatly valued by mental health workers who know their clients can get this support.
We now have wifi and Levi, a project worker from MIND, is attending sessions in October to help anyone interested to get set up and make use of the internet access.
In the recent committee meeting plans were being made for Christmas - thinking it is going to be difficult to beat last years festive fish and chips but we'll try.
The cover picture this month is of the Peace Pagoda at Willen Lake in the gloruous sunshine!
