What a start to 2017; 73 people attended the session today. Hope no one thought we were giving away fish and chips? Anyway no one complained and the session was busy and friendly as usual.
No Drama this week but Paulina will be back running her informal workshop next week.
Our men from the CAB were back in full swing for the new year- advice and advocacy is much needed for people trying to manage faceless, highly complex systems- benefits, housing , health and social care to mention only a few of the main players. Ben, the CEO of MK CAB, has secured some funding to continue offering this service at the Mix and long may this partnership blossom.
The art session was well attended as ever and continues to be a valued part of the service.
There were lots of new people today which is fantastic. It is very difficult for anyone to cope with a new social group so it is particularly challenging for anyone experiencing anxiety or depression. Hopefully because there are lots of people attending who experience these symptoms newcomers feel more of a welcoming vibe.
The mix is run by a committee made up of service users and providers so if anyone is interested in being part of this please let Mel, Carole, Cynthia (on the teas) or Jeremy (on the door) know.
A committee meeting is being planned for later this month.
Happy new year and see you next week!
The cover image this week is of a frosty path in the Ouse Valley below Wolverton Mill.
