It was another successful Mix today at the Point with a total of 55 people attending.
There were lots of new faces today with some people coming along in small groups- hopefully they met with a welcoming atmosphere and will continue to attend.
Ben and Richard from CAB offered advice to several people during the session and are also offering ongoing casework support, where necessary, outside the sessions.
The specialist mental health housing liaison officer attended and offered advice and support informally to several people with housing issues.
A representative from the Neighbourhood employment Program dropped in and promoted their servicer which aims to support people with mental health difficulties to access study, training, volunteering and employment.
The Café, pool table and art session were all busy as usual. Had chocolate bars on sale this week along with small pastries- all reasonably priced.
A social care service manager visited the session this week and ended up helping behind the tea bar. She said that she had enjoyed the session and stated that:
“this is one of the best social inclusion opportunities that our service users have access to and does not carry the usual stigma that individuals carry around with their ‘labels’. Very informal and friendly environment and is open to all”
